Doorway

I wanted to create doorway for a long time. Jaipur fort doorways have mesmerized me for long, they are stunning.

I started by arranging IOD mould castings to form door way.I used Sakura Paper Clay for the castings, they are easy to use and less messy. They need to be gessoed if you are going to use paint and sprays on top of it. I stuck them to the page with matte medium, I also wanted to add more depth so I cut the out the area where door would appear.

The background is simple with few collage papers, texture paste and crackle paste. The entire background was painted with Paper Artsy paints and Golden Red oxide and Quinacridone gold

Several layers of Vintage photo, Van dyke brown.
and Burnt Umber were added to add depth and shadow. They were also added along the edges.

The molds were then painted with Fevicryl glass colors. They brightened the piece beautifully and were gorgeous. I wanted vintage effect so I glazed it with vintage glaze.

Vintage glaze was made by mixing matte medium with Van dyke brown, Quinacridone gold with few drops of Iridescent gold ad a drop of Micaceous iron oxide . I then wiped out the glaze after a minute or two and got a nice aged look.

The door was made with parchment paper embossed with gold embossing paste. I applied Fevicryl 3D liner for the edges and middle of the door. The entire door was covered with Art Alchemy Wax and stuck to the page from the back side.

Peek into the jungle beyond - Week 10

This week SimonsaysStamp Monday challenge was to "Add some green", I combined that with Gwen Lafleur  "Interactive ATC" workshop to create this gorgeous project. I wanted to recreate an old Indian fort window with lovely outer frame and lattice work shutters  for a long time but was blocked on what to add underneath the shutters. Finally I was able to draw the beautiful jungle using different shades of green Distress Oxide and posca pens. The parrots were printed and collaged (Image Credit - freepik) The doodle stencils from Craftangles and Mudra were used to create the topmost layer and were colored with posca pens. The red arch of the window was stamped with Mudra stamp and colored along with  yellow background using DistressOxide . The lattice work was done using Gel paste and Craftangles stencil. Distress glazes in Fossilized Amber and Tattered Rose were added when the paste was wet. When the paste was dry it was heat embossed and the background ...
