Fun with online classes

With lockdown going on, summer vacation for kids, no help it was crazy.

Luckily my favorite mixed media artist Gwen Lafleur started her online classes. Daily chores and keep my kid occupied took most of my time but I started making time to finish the projects at my
own pace.

This class was called the "Mix and Morph" and was the first in the series.

My creation was Indian peacock which was morphed.  I had to think out of box since I didnt have many of materials that were required (like I used distress inks from the distress minis instead of water colors), but the entire process turned out so much fun.

Background was done with layers and layers of Lindy and Distress oxide sprays. Acrylic paints were used on top of them.
Focal image was hand drawn and painted with acrylic paints and Posca markers. They were also embossed with emeraldcreek embossing powder. Morphed elements were stenciled or hand drawn, cut and painted with distress inks and Inktense pencils./

I wanted to recreate an old Indian fort window with lovely outer frame and lattice work shutters  for a long time but was blocked on what to add underneath the shutters. Finally I was able to draw the beautiful jungle using different shades of green Distress Oxide and posca pens. The parrots were printed and collaged (Image Credit - freepik) The doodle stencils from Craftangles and Mudra were used to create the topmost layer and were colored with posca pens. The red arch of the window was stamped with Mudra stamp and colored along with  yellow background using DistressOxide . The lattice work was done using Gel paste and Craftangles stencil. Distress glazes in Fossilized Amber and Tattered Rose were added when the paste was wet. When the paste was dry it was heat embossed and the background ...
